Paul Pogba’s last appearance for Manchester United came in their 4-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield in April.
After leaving the Red Devils as a free agent in 2012, the midfielder returned to Old Trafford from Juventus in 2016. He went on to win the EFL Cup and the Europa League in the 2016/17 season.
Pogba struggled with multiple injuries in his final two seasons at Manchester United. He refused to sign a new deal with the Premier League side and left them as a free agent for the second time in the summer.
The France international returned to Juventus, but his second spell with the Turin club has not yet kickstarted because he has been sidelined with yet another injury.
However, Pogba is of the belief the time was right for him to start a new chapter in Serie A.
“I like to think and say that it is my heart that made the choice. It was also perhaps the right time to come back here,” he told GQ Italia.
“And maybe it was the right time to meet again and try to take back the place that belongs to us, to me and to Juve. And above all to win again.”
The player’s bond with Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri and their fans were the two key factors for him to pick the Italian side over other clubs.
“I have always had a very strong relationship with the coach. Nice, honest. He knows me and always pushed me when we were here together. Even when I was in Manchester we kept in touch and talked a lot,” Pogba explained.
Regarding the Juventus supporters, he said: “When I left, they were very grateful for the years together. I was young and they really always pushed me to the stadium, they were always behind me, I always felt the love of these fans, this is the truth. I have never heard such a great one, not even in Manchester.”
