Three days ago, West Ham United confirmed that Łukasz Fabiański will leave when his contract with expires in June. The Hammers had an option to extend the goalkeeper’s stay for another year but decided against exercising it.

On March 21st, Polish journalist Sebastian Staszewski backed the 40-year-old to continue for another three years. He also explained Fabiański would like to return to Legia Warsaw in the summer window.

The West Ham player previously had a spell with the Polish club between 2005 and 2007 and was part of their title winning squad during the 2005/06 season.

Legia Warsaw sporting director Michał Żewłakow has been speaking to Canal+ Sport’s Krzysztof Marciniak about the stopper, and Gol 24 have relayed his comments.

The presenter asked Żewłakow if he would like to see the former Arsenal man return to the club next season. When responding to that, the Polish club’s official revealed he’s already made an approach.

“To be honest, I called, but there was no contact. I made the move,” he said.

When Marciniak further pressed whether no contact means Fabiański’s didn’t respond, Żewłakow explained: “He didn’t pick up.”

The Pole will leave as a free agent and has to find a new club if he decides to prolong his playing career. He kept four clean sheets and conceded 27 goals from 16 games for the Hammers this season.
