Spain Under 21 coach Luis De la Fuente has praised Valencia for how they’ve helped Tottenham’s Bryan Gil rediscover his confidence.
Gil is currently on loan with the Spanish side from Tottenham, who were happy to ship him out in January when Antonio Conte made it clear he was not part of his plans.
The youngster joined the club last summer from Sevilla but struggled for game time under Nuno Espirito Santo at the beginning of the campaign.
That continued when the Portuguese coach was replaced by Conte, who has made it clear he believes Tottenham need to focus on experienced players to achieve their aims, rather than up and coming youngsters.
That left Gil on the sidelines, so he moved to Valencia, where he has since established himself as a key player under Jose Bordalas.
A series of impressive performances since his arrival have made him a firm fan-favourite, and Valencia are determined to keep him in the summer if Tottenham will permit it.
That remains to be seen, but in the meantime, Gil finds himself back in the international picture, having been called up to Spain’s U21 squad by De la Fuente for this international break.
And he was full of praise for Valencia and the work they’ve done restoring Gil’s confidence since his arrive from Spurs.
“I have always demanded opportunities for these players, confidence and continuity,” Super Deporte report him saying.
“Now he has found it in Valencia. If you trust them, they never fail. They are top players.
“He has the opportunity. They trust him, and he has spectacular mental strength. He hasn’t reached his ceiling yet.”
