Aston Villa will host Bayern Munich in the Champions League at Villa Park on Wednesday.
Bayern star Harry Kane has starred this season, managing 10 goals and five assists from seven matches. He was forced off the pitch in the Bundesliga side’s 1-1 draw against Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.
The striker was at the receiving end of a tackle from Bayer Leverkusen’s Amine Adli in the 85th minute. He was replaced by Thomas Müller, and this raised concerns over Kane’s availability to face Unai Emery’s Aston Villa.
Bild now claim the England international left the stadium ‘heavily bandaged’.
On Sunday, the Bavarian club confirmed there’s been “positive development” about the 31-year-old’s ankle injury. They also said the former Tottenham Hotspur star continues to be “treated intensively”.
Kane wasn’t pleased with the tackle made by Adli and was surprised that referee Felix Zwayer didn’t even book the Bayer Leverkusen player.
“It’s painful, but I think it’s OK. It doesn’t feel that bad. We’ll see over the next few days. We’ve already seen in football last year that cards are given for that, even red cards… But that’s football, we have important games ahead of us, let’s move on,” he said, relayed by Bild.
According to Transfermarkt, Kane has scored eight goals and registered two assists from 13 matches against Aston Villa when he was at Spurs. He was on the winning side on nine occasions and lost the remaining four fixtures.
Vincent Kompany’s side will be hoping for the frontman to start against Aston Villa this week.
