On September 13th, Gazzetta dello Sport reported Tottenham Hotspur are still chasing US Lecce’s Patrick Dorgu, after failing to sign him in the summer window. The north London club aren’t the only Premier League side keen as Liverpool are also in the picture.
That’s at least what journalist Niccolò Ceccarini, writing his column for TuttoMercatoWeb, claims.
Tottenham and Liverpool are among the clubs that’ll challenge Napoli to sign the 19-year-old.
The Naples club made an approach in the last window, but it wasn’t entertained by their Serie A rivals. Antonio Conte’s side continue to keep close tabs on the youngster.
Dorgu has mainly operated as a left-back, and Lecce manager Luca Gotti has also used him on the wings since arriving at the club in March. His displays for the club helped him make his debut for Denmark earlier this month.
Ceccarini adds Napoli want to sign the Denmark international, while AC Milan are keeping an eye on him. They’ll have to be wary of the competition from Tottenham and Liverpool as these two clubs are also in the mix.
Lecce are aware it’s ‘difficult’ to retain the versatile player after this season, especially if there’s an ‘important’ offer. The journalist makes no mention of what’s deemed as an important bid for the Italian club.
