Claims about Gonzalo Higuain signing for Chelsea have been all over the Italian media this transfer window, and not for the first time.
A week or so ago a deal was considered virtually done, but then claims emerged of Chelsea, and specifically Marina Ganovskaia (who the media seem to love naming more so than others in similar positions), not wanting to match the terms Higuain has agreed with Juventus.
On loan at AC Milan this season, the striker is a big earner and doesn’t really want to renegotiate a deal which was agreed when he was at the top of his game.
The past 24 hours have seen rumours build up, almost like one story is encouraging the next and a fervour being built on the back of it.
Transfer frenzy has set in and when Higuain arrived in Italy, following Super Cup defeat to Juventus, he was pounced on by journalists waiting at the airport.
CN24 say he was quizzed on a Chelsea move, being asked: “Happy to find Sarri again?”
The pair worked together at Napoli, but Higuain wasn’t falling into the media trap and answered: “If you’re looking for a controversy, you’ll not find it with me.”
