Newcastle United will be looking to bolster the attack in the winter market, more so after Callum Wilson picked up an injury in his side’s 1-1 draw against Manchester United on December 27th.
Reports have indicated the 29-year-old will be out of action for a while and the situation has forced the Tyneside club to search for a new striker.
Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna took to Twitter to report that Lyon’s Moussa Dembélé is ‘one of the options’ considered by the Magpies for the January window.
The ex-Celtic man spent the second half of the previous season on loan at Atlético Madrid.
After a disappointing spell with Diego Simeone’s side, the Frenchman returned to the Ligue 1 side last summer. This term, he has made 11 league appearances, managing four goals and an assist in the process.

Aouna explains that Newcastle manager Eddie Howe and Nick Hammond, the Premier League side’s recently appointed transfer consultant, ‘appreciate’ the 25-year-old’s profile.
The journalist, however, makes it clear the English club, at the moment, ‘have not made contact’ with Lyon for Dembélé.
