Everton are being touted as a possible destination for Napoli forward Hirving Lozano should the Italians decide to cut their losses on the Mexican.

Lozano joined the Serie A side in a £34m deal from PSV Eindhoven in the summer but has only managed three goals and two assists in 27 games for them this season.

He has mostly been considered a flop, with Corriere Dello Sport stating that Napoli have only had ten good minutes out of him so far.

The plan at the club, who are undergoing something of a revamp at this moment in time, is to be ‘patient’ with the forward and ‘maybe suffer a little’.

However, if his poor form continues, then there will be nothing they can do but get rid of him in the summer transfer window by ‘sowing the seeds’ in the Spring.

They would hope to get the money they paid for him back and forget the whole affair and Corriere say that, despite it being early, they have ‘half a clue’ that Everton could help them do just that.

It’s nothing more than a suggestion by the newspaper, who describe the Blues as an ‘ambitious adventure’ for the Italian.

The hint is that Everton, who are known to have promised Ancelotti funds and backing, would be willing to pay to bring Lozano to Goodison Park.

It’s a link that makes plenty of sense too. Not only did Ancelotti sign Lozano at Napoli last summer, but Marcel Brands is also the man who took him to his previous club PSV Eindhoven.

Add in the fact he was heavily linked with a move to Everton in 2018, mainly because of that link to Brands, and that Everton are in the market for a right-winger, which was revealed in their AGM earlier this month, and it’s a deal that would make sense.

Whether they’d be willing to pay £34m and give Napoli their money back is debatable, but this is one to keep an eye on moving forward.
