Newcastle United may have finally won out in the battle to sign Valentino Lazaro, according to claims from Italy on Thursday afternoon.

Calciomercato say the Magpies have reached an agreement with Inter Milan on the basis on a loan with a purchase right.

It’s pointed out the player actually preferred a move to RB Leipzig, but on Wednesday it was reported in Germany that the club weren’t keen on the terms Inter wanted, so that could be why Newcastle have strongly come back into the picture.

The player’s agent Max Hagmayr, who seems to have been touting Lazaro around to several clubs this week, has already travelled to Newcastle once over the past week, but failed to reach an agreement on personal terms.

Now it’s stated he ‘could soon fly to England’ to get everything sorted out.

FCInterNews carry claims from journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, who has stated Newcastle United will be paying a loan fee of €1.5m, and will have a purchase option of €23.5m in the summer.
