Manchester City have confirmed Sergio Agüero will leave the Etihad at the end of this season.

The Citizens will need to sign a replacement for the Argentine in the next market and reports in England have also suggested City will look for a new left-back.

Pep Guardiola has rotated between Benjamin Mendy and Oleksandr Zinchenko on the left side of the defence, while, at times, he’s used right-back João Cancelo in the same position.

According to Fichajes.net, Bayern Munich’s David Alaba and Valencia’s José Gayà ‘stand out’, but there’s also a third option and that’s Benfica Álex Grimaldo.

It’s claimed the Manchester club are ‘interested in acquiring’ the 25-year-old’s services and want to take advantage of the fact the player wants to leave the Portuguese club in the summer.

The Spaniard spent seven years at Barcelona and the first few years were with the La Liga side’s famous academy. The fullback’s profile ‘amazes’ Guardiola ‘a lot’, so much so that the City manager has asked his employer to ‘buy Grimaldo’.

Manchester City’s intention is to offload some of their own players first and then try to close the signing of Grimaldo.

Grimaldo has two goals and six assists in 22 league appearances this season for Benfica.
