The Catalan media are getting to the stage of the Ferran Torres transfer rumour that they’re grasping around for possible deals which could see the move happen.
Even from the start, when it was reported Torres wants to sign for Barcelona and Pep Guardiola won’t block the deal if Manchester City can agree the financials, there was no illusion that this would be a difficult move to complete.
Mundo Deportivo now report: ‘FC Barcelona have Torres’ commitment as a great weapon but know that with only money the business is complicated and hopes that a footballer will enter’
Earlier today we covered reports from the Spanish media which presented Frenkie de Jong as a possible swap, and stated Guardiola is a fan of Nico Gonzalez.
However, inevitably, Barcelona would prefer other players to be involved, with Mundo naming seven possibilities: Sergino Dest, Sergi Roberto, Clement Lenglet, Oscar Mingueza, Philippe Coutinho, Neto or Samuel Umtiti.
Nico Gonzalez, Pedri and Gavi are completely ruled out.
There’s no mention of De Jong, so presumably he’s somewhere in the middle of the two camps.
Barcelona obviously need to realise that it’s they would have to convince Manchester City, and not the reverse.
Ferran Torres may well fancy the move, but he’s contracted until 2025, so unless he wants to ruin his national team chances he’ll continue giving his all for the club until Barcelona, or anyone else, come up with a deal which entices City.
