First it was very far from being agreed, then it was agreed, then quickly it wasn’t agreed. Jordan Amavi to Sevilla has had a whirlwind week.
Local Seville sport newspaper Estadio Deportivo have been close to the story and on Friday say Amavi from Aston Villa is one of a number of transfers Sevilla are keen to get over the line.
Sevilla never want to pay an asking price and will try every trick in the book to get a fee as low as possible. The best plan for selling clubs is to not agree to a loan or a deal weighted on bonuses, because if there’s any possible way Sevilla can negotiate agreed clauses down in the future then they’ll certainly try.
Estadio Deportivo have contacted a source at Aston Villa, and were told: “We are talking to Sevilla for Amavi, there is still nothing closed. If Sevilla take him they will have a great player.”
It’s reported Sevilla’s latest offer is €7m plus a further €2m in bonuses. Aston Villa will need to make sure there’s no possible way Sevilla can fudge appearances, achievements, or anything to make the bonuses impossible, because if they can then they will.
