Norwich City were linked with a move for Emiliano Marcondes in the summer transfer window.

The attacking midfielder was a free agent after his exit from Bournemouth and since a move to Norwich didn’t materialise, he remains without a club.

Canaries boss Johannes Hoff Thorup managed the Dane during his time at Nordsjælland and he recently spoke to TipsBladet about the club’s links to the 29-year-old.

Thorup greeted the question with a smile and revealed that he;s been talking to Marcondes, who is expected to move to aid his long-term growth.

“Well, I’m talking to E (Emiliano Marcondes), and I’ve talked to him quite a bit,” he said.

“What is important to him is that he gets to take a step in his career. He needs to find a place he can be for the next two or three years.”

The Norwich City manager revealed had already considered signing him but he didn’t fit into their plans at the time, even though it is a move which could happen at some point.

“As a club, we had to find out how he would fit into that strategy and how he would fit into our plans.

“Immediately it wasn’t exactly something we were missing, but you never know in this world of football, and E and I talk as often as we can, because he is a great person and a good footballer who has done a lot for that club I come from.”

Marcondes played 11 times under Thorup during his time at Nordsjælland and impressed, scoring four times and assisting three times.

There’s obviously the possibility of a transfer there, and reading between the lines it’s becomes clear Thorup and his old player have been speaking about it repeatedly.
