It’s been over 50 days since Leicester City signed Adrien Silva in a €24.5m deal, but the Foxes are still far from having an opportunity to see if he was worth that money.
Forbidden by FIFA to be registered as a summer signing, the midfielder will only have a chance to play in January.
From Sporting’s side, it’s been a shame that they can’t count on their former captain. There are some who even regret the decision of selling him.
That’s what Pedro Madeira Rodrigues, candidate for the presidency and leader of the opposition against the current management, says.
Interviewed by newspaper O Jogo this weekend, he claimed that Adrien should have been sold to Leicester for more, or maybe not sold at all.
Whilst attacking the current president Bruno de Carvalho, he claimed the player should have had a lifetime contract.
“The president gives the impression that he is a great negotiator. It is bad that he feels the need to do so.
“A great negotiator is discreet. With me, we would have made a contract with Adrien like Barcelona did with Iniesta.”
Does that mean that Leicester City got Adrien Silva in a bargain? Time (two and a half months, to be accurate) will tell.
