With the news from the English press saying Leicester City and West Ham would both be keen on Manuel Pellegrini, there’s been some concern coming from the Chilean media now.

Several local outlets have been claiming that this is a threat for the national team, as according to Bio Bio Chile, the manager is the number one on the list to replace Juan Antonio Pizzi after the failure to get a World Cup spot.

So now La Roja would have some heavy competition when trying to get the manager. A clause to release him from Chinese side Hebei Fortune would be expensive enough, and now convincing him to join the national team instead of Leicester or West Ham would be even more difficult.

Pellegrini’s agent Jesus Martinez had already comment on the manager’s possibilities to work with the national team, and made it clear that it would be a different experience: “If he arrives, it will be for affections and feelings. Manuel is a close friend of Arturo Salah and I don’t know what they might be talking about.”

So would these feelings be more attractive than an offer from Leicester or West Ham? Without a World Cup spot, the situation looks quite difficult for Chile, and the Premier League interest only makes it worse.
