Vincent Kompany left Hamburg and made a switch to Manchester City in 2008, two years after he joined the German club from Anderlecht.
The Belgium international’s contract at the Etihad will expire at the end of the season and so far, he has not signed an extension.
According to Voetbalnieuws.be, the Jupiler Pro League outfit will have to invest heavily in the summer in strengthening their squad for the next season
For this reason, Anderlecht fans are giving advice to chairman Marc Coucke, director of football Frank Arnesen and Michael Verschueren about the players they would prefer to see at the club next season.
One of them is the Manchester City defender and it’s a ‘great dream of fans’ to bring the centre-half back to Anderlecht.
Anderlecht and their fans are aware of Kompany’s contract situation and as long there is no official confirmation, there is hope for them.
They are of the belief the player could be a leader in the squad, something they have missed and necessary for the 2019/20 season.
The report explains the 33-year-old is likely to extend his stay with Pep Guardiola’s side by one more year, meaning Anderlecht fans will not be able to see Kompany play for their club next term.
