On Sunday afternoon France’s Le10 Sport claimed they’d learned of a ‘good offer’ from West Ham for Kevin Malcuit. The versatile Saint-Etienne player has been linked with West Ham in the past, but Le10 explained the situation had caught the player’s current club by surprise.
Despite being taken aback, Saint-Etienne turned down West Ham’s offer, but Le10 suggested that didn’t mean the possible transfer was completely ruled out this window.
On Monday France Football, without naming West Ham or another other club, say Saint-Etienne have turned down an €8m offer for 25 year old Malcuit.
Interest from the Bundesliga is covered but, again, no potential destinations are named.
Interestingly, France Football report that Saint-Etienne are so keen to keep Malcuit they’re considering offering the player a contract renewal. Malcuit’s current deal runs until June 2019 and he’d receive a pay rise and an extension.
West Ham have bee half interested in so many players over the past year or so that it’s wise not to rule anyone out, but this could be a case of the club’s name being used to help flush out that Saint-Etienne renewal offer.
