Thursday was a mess for Chelsea, if all the reports from the English press are to be believed.
Allegedly working hard to get Romelu Lukaku from Everton, the Blues appear to have lost out to a late Manchester United offer, with the Belgian striker now expected to team up once again with José Mourinho, but this time at Old Trafford.
Articles claimed Antonio Conte was ‘fuming’ at the news he’d missed out on the former Chelsea player, and has now apparently set his sights on Swansea striker Fernando Llorente instead.
There is, however, some good news for the Italian manager and the Stamford Bridge faithful, if L’Equipe on Friday are to be believed.
Dragging on for far longer than expected, Tiémoué Bakayoko’s transfer from Monaco to Chelsea is now apparently on the verge of being completed, with the French newspaper explaining it would happen in the ‘coming hours’.
Now, if you’ve followed our coverage from the European press for long enough, you’ll know that ‘coming hours’ can mean various things.
Sometimes it does mean ‘coming hours’, but mostly it should be translated as ‘coming days’ or ‘sometime next week’.
All we’re saying is, while it looks promising, don’t hold your breath just yet. You might need to wait a little bit longer.
