One of the growing stories in Italy these days is the interest in Watford’s Luis Suárez, currently on loan at Real Zaragoza in La Liga2.
The young Colombian has attracted a lot of interest with his performances with the Spanish side, and clubs such as Napoli and Lazio in Serie A are reportedly circling.
This has led to recurring articles being printed about the player and how much he would cost (it varies from €8-50m depending on the report), which was all speculation that wasn’t helped by a misleading set of “quotes” doing the rounds.
Monday, however, sees Corriere dello Sport have a chat with Miguel Alfaro, one of the agents at You First Sports, the agency that manages the affairs of the aforementioned Watford player and Luis Alberto at Lazio.
Asked about Suárez and the interest in him, he said: “The player is young. He was asked for information about the market and he said several clubs were interested. It’s very good for him that Lazio and other companies are keen.
“We will see what the intention of Watford will be, the team where he is under contract. It’s normal that he’s sought after because the season he is having is impressive”.
Describing the forward as an ‘explosive striker, capable of creating goal actions on his own’, Alfaro also reminded everyone Suárez also has a European (Spanish) passport, making any transfer to Italy easier.
It seems Lazio really are interested, although we doubt any movement will happen for the time being, since the Watford man hasn’t finished his season at Zaragoza, and until we know what will happen with leagues around Europe, few clubs will want to spend money or sell potentially profitable assets.
