Even if they are underperforming in the Bundesliga, Schalke managed to get out of the Champions League group stage and are preparing to face Manchester City in the first knockout round.
With the first game at home for the Germans, the main aim will be to not concede, and one of the main men in charge of that duty will be Salif Sané.
The Senegal international knows he will have a difficult task on his hand, likely facing an in-form Sergio Agüero, and he’s not particularly looking forward to it.
Speaking to So Foot about his career and his time in Germany, the centre-back was also asked about the upcoming fixture, and how he will deal with the Argentine.
He said: “It’s going to be a pain in the arse. He’s already a great striker, and on top of that he’s small, quick. By the time I’ve turned around, he’ll be long gone. (laughs)
“I’d much rather be against a big guy. Small ones like Agüero, sometimes, without meaning to, you can end up giving them an elbow or something like that”.
Scoring two hat tricks in his last three games against Arsenal and Chelsea, the Argentine will enter this game brimming with confidence, meaning Sané will have to be at the top of his game to stop him.
The Manchester City striker has now scored 23 games in 30 games this season, as well as assisting teammates five times.
