Ever since the transfer window started, AS Roma have been trying to get rid of Robin Olsen, who didn’t live up to expectations as Alisson’s replacement.
The Sweden international kept just four clean sheets in 27 games, conceding 42 goals in the remaining 23, and the club are already working on signing their next shot stopper.
Paying £8.1m for his services last summer, the Serie A side want to recoup the vast majority of that if they can, and their best bet is an offer from a Premier League club, like Watford.
The Hornets have been the recurring name in every report, and while no agreement appears to have been reached with Roma regarding a transfer, the interest is there.
Corriere dello Sport on Wednesday explain Olsen ‘has an offer’ from Watford in front of him, suggesting the English side have drawn up a contract for him to go through.
Were he to accept it, perhaps then something could be sorted with Roma?
Watford do need some kind of future plan in between the sticks beyond Ben Foster, even if the 36-year-old still has a year left on his Vicarage Road contract.
Olsen could be the solution for a few years prior to his compatriot Pontus Dahlberg stepping in full-time?
That sounds like a sound succession plan if you ask us.
