For the past few weeks, reports from Italy have stressed Arsenal’s willingness to make an offer to sign Fiorentina’s Dušan Vlahović. However, his camp have refused to hold talks with the Gunners.
Mikel Arteta’s side are joined by other clubs in chasing the striker, including Juventus and Manchester City.
The Serbia international has starred for La Viola this season, managing 13 goals and two assists in 16 league matches.
Former AS Roma star Antonio Cassano has urged the 21-year-old to snub other clubs in favour of the Citizens. He is of the belief Pep Guardiola can help Vlahović further improve his overall game at City, and in the process the player can become one of the best strikers in Europe.
“Vlahovic, choose Guardiola and go to Manchester City. I don’t know if you’ll be up to it, but with a year you could reach Haaland’s level. If, on the other hand, you find a coach who does not know how to communicate with you, growth stops,” Cassano told Bobo TV, relayed by Calciomercato.it.
Manchester City will be in the market for a new striker next summer, after failing to sign Sergio Agüero’s replacement in the last window. According to Cassano, Vlahović can be the right fit for the English champions.
The 21-year-old’s contract expires in 2023 and Rocco Commisso, the Serie A side’s chief, has already confirmed his star has decided against signing an extension.
Calciomercato.it say Arsenal were among the first clubs to come forward for the Serbian. However, the Gunners and other suitors must ‘beware of the English giant, Manchester City in particular’, in the race to sign Vlahović.
