Feyenoord manager Arne Slot has been told ‘he has to go’ to Tottenham if they make a move for him this summer, although any deal would likely be an expensive one.
That’s according to journalist Valentijn Driessen, who believes it may take a €25m offer from Spurs before the Dutch club are willing to do business.
Slot has been earning himself a growing reputation in the Netherlands this season as he’s led Feyenoord to the top of the Eredivisie table, ahead of Ajax and PSV Eindhoven, with an attractive brand of football.
It’s earned him a suite of admirers, particularly in the Premier League, where Leeds United already made a bid for him earlier this year.
Since then, Tottenham have been thrown into the mix as they look for Antonio Conte’s replacement, with it suggested Slot may be the ideal man to replace the Italian.
That’s a move which Driessen believes he simply couldn’t turn down if it was offered, although it would be an expensive one for Spurs.
“Slot will leave at the end of the year,” Feyenoord Pings reports him saying.
“Slot has given his word to all of Feyenoord, because he just signed a contract. It says that he will be Feyenoord’s trainer until 2025 and will only be allowed to leave in 2024 for a limited transfer fee.
“Imagine Tottenham willing to pay 25 million for him, then Feyenoord might be willing to talk. He has to go to such a club, not to Leeds United or Crystal Palace. They are also in the market, but he cannot play the football he wants there.”
