Rangers ‘are interested’ in Rapid Wien striker Taxiarchis Fountas, with claims he is ‘about to move abroad’.
That’s according to Sport 24, who say Rangers and ‘cult coach’ Steven Gerrard are interested in his signature.
Gerrard has overseen something of an overhaul at Ibrox already this summer, with seven new players arriving already.
Two of those have been centre forwards, with Kemar Roofe arriving from Anderlecht and Cedric Itten from St Gallen. Jermain Defoe has also signed back on at the club on a free transfer.
It seems, though, Rangers want to continue adding to their options, with Fountas, who managed 20 goals and seven assists in 29 games last season, a target.
That’s at least according to Sport 24, who say they are interested alongside the likes of Atalanta and VfB Stuttgart.
The Germans are said to be the ‘furthest’ in the hunt, although a transfer fee remains ‘unclear’ at this point.
Rapid want at least €5m for the 25-year-old, who has two years remaining on his contract at the Austrian club.
Whether Rangers would pay that or have even been in contact about a move, isn’t mentioned, just that they’re one of several clubs interested.
