Juventus are interested in signing Wilfried Gnonto from Leeds United, according to the Italian media.
Website CalcioMercatoWeb reveals that the Old Lady have been ‘monitoring’ the striker ‘with great attention’ ahead of the summer window.
The story points out Gnonto has been ‘the protagonist of a good season’ at Leeds, with his four goals scored so far. That’s what encouraged many clubs to follow him.
It turns out that to get him signed, Juventus are not only thinking of paying some cash. They’d actually rather give Weston McKennie in exchange.
The midfielder is having a loan spell at Leeds until the end of the season, with a buying option of around €35m included, and the Old Lady are thinking of mixing that transfer in the deal for the attacker.
Gnonto himself is said to be ‘happy to return to Italy’, ‘especially’ at a club like Juventus, and that’s why he wouldn’t put any barriers in the way of that transfer.
But the report doesn’t mention Leeds United’s desire, which should actually have big weight on this scenario.
The English club have just made an investment on this very interesting youngster, and it’d be strange to see them giving him away before getting to seeing the final result of his development. Especially for a player who they already have a buying option over.
