Tottenham Hotspur have a keen interest in signing Pedro Porro in the winter market and the deal has been made complicated by Sporting’s stance.
The Lions continued to refer to the right-back’s €45m release clause, while Spurs have failed to convince them to take a different package.
Last week, Record reported Tottenham are willing to give up their sell-on rights for Marcus Edwards, who is currently at Sporting. This wasn’t accepted by the latter.
Today’s A Bola highlights this and then insists Antonio Conte’s side are still pushing. They are now ‘getting closer’ to the €45m valuation demanded by Sporting for the Spain international.
The north London club haven’t matched the asking price so far. There is expectation that they may meet this valuation during the third round of talks that will take place in the next few days.
Sporting face Arouca in the Taça da Liga semi-final clash later today and the 23-year-old will be part of the squad. If they were to make it to the final on Saturday, the Lions also want to count on Porro for the cup final.
Should Tottenham meet Sporting’s demands to sign the Spaniard, his sale will be a big financial success. At the same time, Porro’s departure will be a big blow for Rúben Amorim’s side.
