On Monday, Corriere dello Sport stated Manchester United have to sort out personal terms with André Onana before making an improved offer to Inter Milan.
Later that day, Sport Mediaset reported the Red Devils met the 27-year-old’s agent on Monday and offered him a five-year deal worth nearly €7m [with bonuses] per season.
Today’s Corriere dello Sport says Manchester United were sorting out the contract details with the goalkeeper’s agent yesterday and only a ‘few details are missing’.
The Cameroonian, who currently earns €3.5m per year, will collect €6m [likely without bonuses] annually at Old Trafford. Other sources have put the package at €7m.
The next step is for the two clubs to finalise an agreement.
Onana is scheduled to start pre-season with Inter on Thursday and Corriere state it’s ‘difficult to imagine’ the deal won’t have been agreed by then. In other words, it’s only a ‘matter of days’ before the stopper leaves the San Siro.
Over at Gazzetta dello Sport, they state the former Ajax man is ‘getting closer and closer’ to Erik ten Hag’s side and add that ‘everything will be resolved by Thursday’.
It’s claimed the details of the deal should be sorted out in the ‘next 48 hours’ and the final agreement can be closed at €55m with easily achievable bonuses.
Therefore, the two clubs could start working on the paperwork tomorrow to close the deal to take Onana to Manchester United.
Inter have given up on Onana as Gazzetta say his sale to Manchester United in the next few days is ‘practically inevitable’. The funds raised from his sale will help the Nerazzurri carry out a few signings in this window.
