There’s been a lot of speculation of late regarding Real Madrid and who could replace Julen Lopetegui should he get sacked, and Corriere dello Sport are adamant it’s going to be Antonio Conte.
Since the summer, the Italian manager has been sat without a job after leaving Chelsea, but has still been paid his wages by the Blues, as the two parties never settled on a severance package.
We’re guessing the Blues were just hoping for this situation, where a club would be interested in Conte, and hopefully be willing to pay the London club some money to get him.
As of yet, that hasn’t happened, as Lopetegui is still in charge, but Monday saw Corriere suggest the former Blues manager’s lawyers had reached out to Chelsea to try and sort something out, which is apparently what Florentino Pérez is waiting for.
A first phone call was made to Federico Pastorello at the start of last week, and a second just before the mess that was the game against Levante.
The message? “Get your bags ready, because this is it”.
