Tottenham Hotspur have been very, well, Tottenham Hotspur in the current transfer market. The purchase of Vincent Janssen turned into a saga over price as currency rates fluctuated, and the Clinton N’Jie and Georges-Kévin N’Koudou situation rumbles on.
Pau Lopez of Espanyol has been the subject of Tottenham interest, but the Spanish club have been left decidedly unimpressed by efforts from Spurs so far.
On the outgoing front, Nabil Bentaleb has been sporadically linked with an exit. Over the past few days there have been claimes of Schalke offers both being made and refused.
France’s Foot Mercato claim that, according to their own information, Schalke will revise their offer upwards, after claims in England of €11.5m being turned down. They say that, also from their own information, the player is getting closer to agreeing a move.
Over in Germany, Der Westen say Bentaleb is apparently on the wanted list of Schalke, as is Benjamin Stambouli, although there are ‘problems in negotiations with the selling clubs’, because of high demands.
Meanwhile, German newspaper Bild say Schalke have a total of €15m to spend on two players, with one possibly a purchase at €13m, and the other a €2m loan with purchase option for next summer. Bentaleb isn’t mentioned in their article.
