Ilkay Gundogan isn’t in a hurry to extend his contract at Manchester City.
With the midfielder’s current deal expiring at the end of next season, this summer is crucial. Either the Premier League club seriously try and sell the 28 year old or they chance losing him for nothing next year.
There have been links with several clubs, with Inter Milan getting the most coverage, but there hasn’t felt anything especially serious.
Bayern Munich have also been linked, which was probably an inevitably, and Gundogan was spotted in the city this week. Pep Guardiola has given his players a few days away from training, and they’ve subsequently flown around Europe.
Bild go with a headline saying: ‘What is Gundogan doing in Munich?’
They then answer it fairly simply: He’s visiting friends and eating at nice restaurants.
Bild say, according to their own information, that a move to Bayern ‘is not an issue’.
The footballer ‘feels good’ at Manchester City, despite the renewal situation.
Gundogan did this more than once at Borussia Dortmund and it’s quite possible he’ll end up renewing, unless his club get fed up with trying.
