Time may be running out for Julian Alvarez at River Plate, as Manchester City should be taking the striker to England this summer.
Following the clubs’ agreement in January, the Premier League side only need to trigger the clause which allows them to bring the starlet to their squad and have him for pre-season.
There’s a big expectation about this in Argentina, where River Plate can’t hide they’re still hopeful Alvarez could stay with them for longer. However, in an interview this weekend, the player made it clear these should be his final matches for the Millonario.
The 22-year-old spoke this weekend to TNT Sports, and sounded like his farewell is close.
“I try to be calm. Living day to day and enjoying every moment here, I have a great time,” Alvarez told TNT Sports.
“On the pitch I also give my best, as I always did, to do it in the best way in the few games that I have left.”
River Plate continue to claim they’re still to be informed of Manchester City’s decision.
However, with Pep Guardiola recently saying he wants Alvarez to be in the squad for pre-season, the Argentine side expect the Premier League club to soon trigger the clause and take the player away.
