Just three months after joining Greek side AEK, Joleon Lescott could be on his way out in the January transfer window, Sport.24 Gr understands.
A summer signing after being released by Aston Villa, Lescott has struggled to settle into life in Greece and also has some troubles fitting the playing style of AEK.
His very, very bad mistake in the derby match against Olympiakos were a lowlight of his 4 games in the Greek Super League so far, and Sport24 reports his off-the pitch antics are even worse than his performances.
Not adapting, or even seeming to want to adapt, it’s not hard to think manager Temur Ketsbaia made a wrong decision, if it was his call to sign the defender who had annoyed the population of Villa Park.
Ketsbaia apparently trusted his former teammate from Newcastle United, ignored what had happened at Aston Villa, and signed him to help his team to win the title. He also wanted to use Lescott’s experience to help the club’s youngsters, but it’s explained the footballer failed miserably on both accounts. Aston Villa fans will hardly be shocked.
Never aggressive in training, always complaining about something, and some disrespectful digs at the doctors, who say he can play but Lescott insists he’s injured, the Aston Villa misfit’s life in Athens is pretty much a disaster.
Villa themselves are now looking to the future under new manager Steve Bruce, and Lescott looks like he’ll be looking for a new club. Again.
