Corinthians left-back Guilherme Arana has responded to the rumours which have been linked him to a Manchester United move.

Speaking to Meu Timão last night, the 19-year-old has dismissed the speculation and said there’s nothing on the table: “My head is here at Corinthians, nothing has come to me so far. It’s gossip. My head is here at Corinthians, in these two last games, so we can achieve the [Copa Libertadores] qualification”.

Earlier this month, Guilherme Arana’s agent Fernando Garcia confirmed that Manchester United have been watching the player. He claimed that there was informal contact, but money wasn’t mentioned.

Another sign that the talks were happening came when one of the people who take care of the player’s career, Leonardo Cornacini, posted on Instagram a photo where he showed he was at Manchester United’s facilities. This came around the same time TMW reported the player’s agent had travelled to the club for talks, so it all fit together nicely.

The Brazilian football season is ending in December, and Corinthians are still fighting for a Copa Libertadores spot.

The club aren’t living a very good moment on and off the pitch, as player salaries from last month haven’t been paid yet.

A sale would certainly be good for this scenario. But the club hold only 40% of Arana’s economical rights, so Manchester United would have to offer some good money to solve Corinthians’ problems.
