Fulham target Geny Catamo is set to get protected by Sporting with a new contract, according to reports from Portugal.
Newspaper O Jogo today writes that the player and his agent are currently in ‘advanced’ talks for an extension with the Lisbon side.
It’s said that even though the new contract isn’t official yet, the details are already agreed. The new deal will run until 2028, and the release clause will be increased from €60m to €80m.
Sporting are said to be protecting Catamo from the foreign interest, and Fulham get a mention as one of the clubs who’ve been chasing him.
The Whites have been reported as one of the contenders, as well as Aston Villa, Genoa and Udinese.
The good news for Fulham and others is that Sporting are also working to get the full percentage of the player’s sale.
They currently only own 25% of it, and are making an offer to get the other 75%. In case they’re successful, they’ll be a lot more comfortable negotiating a potential transfer in the coming transfer windows.
