Paulo Gazzaniga left Tottenham Hotspur as a free agent at the end of the 2020/21 season and made a switch to Fulham in July last year.

The goalkeeper started in first 11 league games of the previous campaign before losing his place to Marek Rodak. He further dropped the pecking order this term after Bernd Leno’s arrival at the club.

This convinced the Argentine to look for a move away from Fulham. He joined Girona on a season-long loan deal on the last day of the window.

The 30-year-old was presented to the media yesterday, along with Toni Fuidias. The Fulham owned player has detailed how his move to Girona took shape.

“Everything happened very quickly, especially the last three days because I was in England. They were moments of great stress, due to schedules and other issues, but the paperwork was fast,” the former Spurs man said, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

The comments made by the South American on his loan move to Girona are also relayed by Marca.

“The last day was stressful and until the end I didn’t know which flight I should take. Thank God everything went faster than I thought, and I was able to land in Girona,” he stressed.

A move to Girona will see Gazzaniga reunite with Míchel, a manager he had played under in the past, at Rayo Vallecano.

“I met him at Rayo, and I know the style of coach he is and everything he can give the club. Our objective is very clear, taking into account that we are a team that has just been promoted, which is permanence,” the Fulham owned man stressed.
