After four matches of the current season, Sevilla find themselves 19th in La Liga, with only Valencia below them, and fed up fans are taking inspiration from Manchester United supporters and their battle against the Glazers.
They spent much of the last campaign flirting with a relegation battle but ended up safe in 12th. Hope that things would be better this time around is diminishing.
There’s been lot of drama off the pitch. The club’s finances are in a mess, and current president José María del Nido Carrasco has been in a public war of words with those previously in charge of the club, including his own father.
777 Partners, those of Everton and other infamy, got involved and off pitch dramas have somewhat echoed the mess being seen on the grass.
Spanish newspaper AS report Biris Norte, Sevilla’s best known ultra group, have decided to adopt yellow as their protest colour. Whilst it’s said they’re taking inspiration from the Manchester United anti-Glazer green and gold campaign, they won’t be taking both colours.
That’s because their eternal rivals are Real Betis and therefore no green is welcome among the Sevilla support.
Their demand is ‘JUNIOR GO NOW’, with Junior being the above mentioned José María del Nido Carrasco.
It’s not yet known how successful the protest will be in terms of numbers or whether Junior, who appears ready to do anything to cling onto power, will take any notice.
Hopefully for Sevilla fans, they can make their feelings known.
