Rangers are interested in Real Valladolid’s Sekou Gassama, if claims coming out of Spain are to be believed.
Today’s edition of AS takes a look at the proposals rejected by the La Liga club for their players.
Gassama is among them, and it’s claimed Steven Gerrard’s side submitted a €3m bid for the forward. This information was first reported in Italy, but AS insist they’ve taken steps to have it confirmed themselves, and the Rangers offer has been backed up.
However, the bid ‘has not been accepted’ by the club owned by Brazil legend Ronaldo.
That’s because Valladolid are of the belief the attacker is worth more. In addition to this, there is no urgency to raise funds because the club will cash in €12m from Mohammed Salisu’s sale to Southampton.
The transfer window has just opened and Valladolid have sufficient time to earn more through the player’s sale, if they decide to offload him this summer.
Having completed the signings of Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten this week, it may be unlikely Rangers will return.
Valladolid took Gassama from UD Almería in the winter market, and offered him a contract until 2024. In the same window, he was allowed him to join CF Fuenlabrada on loan until the end of the 2019/20 season.
Gassama scored nine goals and registered one assist in the recently concluded season.
