After reports of Valentín Barco having packed his bags, and being at the exit door of Sevilla, things have slowed down a little.

Barco didn’t travel with Sevilla at the weekend for their match against Almeria, with it reported at the time he was staying behind to sort out his future.

There was clearly an urgency to the situation, with the view in Seville being that his loan from Brighton would be terminated and he’d set off sail for a new adventure at FC Porto.

The Liga Portugal club strongly denied that to their local media, which made it clear that even if there was interest – but to be honest that was also denied – there certainly wasn’t anything imminent.

Friday’s edition of Diario de Sevilla reports the La Liga club’s sporting director García Pimienta is trying to find new homes for Barco and Kelechi Iheanacho.

There’s no mention of Porto, and returning to play at Brighton is presented as a possibility.

Over at ABC Sevilla, it’s stated Barco has ‘one foot out of Sevilla’, and they’re clinging to the Porto chance.

There’s nothing in today’s Portuguese newspapers on that possibility.
