On Monday, Everton confirmed the Friedkin Group have agreed a deal with Blue Heaven Holdings to “become custodians” of the Merseyside club. The sale is pending approval from the Premier League, the FA and the Financial Conduct Authority.
The Toffees’ new owners are starting to work on making changes at the English club.
Wednesday’s edition of Corriere dello Sport states they want to appoint Maurizio Sarri as the new Everton manager.
Sean Dyche is currently in charge and Everton has collected one point from five league games this season. The Friedkin Group are looking to change managers and are thinking about the Italian.
Sarri has been without a job since leaving Lazio in March. The Friedkins also own AS Roma and looked at him for the Serie A side. This move didn’t happen because of the rivalry between the two clubs, and Roma appointed Ivan Jurić last week.
Corriere dello Sport say The Friedkin Group want to bring the former Chelsea manager to Everton. It’ll be the ‘first big move’ of their new project at Goodison Park. Corriere say Sarri could take fitness coach Daniele Tognaccini along with him to England.
The Toffees are currently 19th in the table. The report claims their new owners believe Sarri and a good window in January would help them ‘avoid the darkest scenario’ of relegation.
