With the English slant now seeming to be there was a problem with Nabil Fekir’s Liverpool medical which has somehow delayed the deal, over in France that’s not the case at all.
Reading between the lines on the French side, it would appear, from their understanding, that when things were pushed as all being agreed on Thursday evening that simply wasn’t the case, which led to Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas becoming angry with the situation.
All the nonsense about share price and market rules would be just that.
Now there’s a brighter slant.
Noël Le Graët, who is president of the French Football Federation, has been speaking to Lyon regional newspaper Le Progres.
They quote him as saying: “I saw Nabil this morning for a quarter of an hour. He is a boy who is down to earth. It is being negotiated and I think it’ll be done. This does not prevent him from being very concerned about the France team. He has a very good state of mind.
“It would be better for him if his transfer was recorded before the departure for Russia, but he did not seem disturbed to me. I felt optimistic about it because the medical visit he had was positive. In a transfer, it’s always like that. Each one tries to impose its price, to lower it, or to increase it.”
Crucially, Le Progress confirmed Le Graët said he was at Clairefontaine when the Liverpool medical took place. That means it will likely have been on Thursday, with Fekir leaving for Lyon with the France squad and arriving at midday on Friday.
