Fred’s situation with Brazil continues to be uncertain.

Days after Manchester United announced a deal had been agreed to sign Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk, Fred picked up an injury in training with Brazil ahead of the World Cup.

Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro went into the back of Fred’s ankle with his knee, and the latter found himself being assessed on the sidelines. He didn’t train on Friday, and Globo Esporte report he’s not trained on Saturday either.

As his national teammates went out to train, Fred ‘stayed in the hotel doing physiotherapy and will undergo examinations’.

It’s stated he’s out of Sunday’s friendly against Austria, but that was thought to be the case anyway. He hasn’t travelled to the stadium to train with the rest of the squad.

There’s no update on exactly what the injury is, and whilst it doesn’t seem a particularly serious situation it will remain a worry for Manchester United and Brazil until everything is cleared up.
