Sead Kolasinac is ‘on the list’ of Tottenham, Everton and Stoke City, according to German magazine SportBild. The defender’s contract with Schalke runs out in June 2017, and so the German club are aware a free transfer is on the horizon.
Tottenham keep being linked with left-backs despite having Danny Rose and Ben Davies at the club. Kolasinac is a little more flexible and can also play in central defence, but Mauricio Pochettino interest doesn’t make a great deal of sense given Spurs’ strength in depth there.
Ronald Koeman’s Everton also have depth in the left back position, but there’s every possibility the Dutch manager could see 23 year old Kolasinac as a good addition to his squad, improving quality in depth and fighting for the first team berth. That would largely be dependent on departures.
Mark Hughes may feel Kolasinac could improve Stoke City at left back, and it would certainly be a move which was looking toward the future… and he’d be available in the summer for free!
Italy’s AS Roma are also interested, and SportBild point out they bid €15m for the player in 2015, only to be told by Schalke that only €20m would do. Now they may well get nothing.
Kolasinac has at times shown huge promise, and at times found it hard to get into Schalke’s starting eleven. He seems to be in favour at Schalke right now as the club fight back from a torrid start to the season, it may well be worth the English clubs genuinely interested sending someone to watch.
