Leeds United have come forward to sign Real Madrid forward Mariano Díaz in the summer.
The 29-year-old is expected to leave the La Liga side when his deal expires in June and he has to find a new club for next season.
That’s according to Defensa Central, who state Leeds have presented themselves as an option for the player.
Mariano has struggled to have prominence since he returned to the Bernabéu from Lyon in 2018. He currently earns €4.5m per year and this has been a stumbling block for Los Blancos to offload him in the past few windows.
Leeds are showing interest in acquiring his services for free in the summer. The Whites could be an option for the attacker, if he wants to earn €4.5m annually.
Apart from Javi Gracia’s side, who are ready to meet his ‘financial demands’, Getafe are also interested in Mariano.
A move to Getafe will allow him to continue in Madrid, but they wouldn’t pay him even half of what Leeds could offer.
Mariano has ‘both offers on the table’ and it’s down to him to decide whether he prioritises earning more money in England with Leeds or continuing in Madrid by joining Getafe.
