On April 1st, we covered a report from Telefoot, who explained that Wolverhampton Wanderers are ‘still following’ Morgan Sanson of Marseille, while there are other clubs chasing the midfielder.
In December 2018, the 24-year-old signed a new deal with the Ligue 1 outfit and his current deal expires in 2022.
However, that hasn’t stopped the reports linking him with a move away from Rudi Garcia’s side. Sunday’s edition of French newspaper Le Parisien took at look at those players at Marseille, who ‘could stay’ and who ‘could go’ in the summer.
Sanson is mentioned as one of the players who could be allowed to leave Marseille and is on the radar of Nuno Espírito Santo’s side.
It’s claimed the Premier League club ‘would be willing to pay 40 million euros’ for the versatile star, who can play in the centre of the pitch, as a defensive midfielder or in the attacking midfielder position.
While speaking to Telefoot last month, the Frenchman stressed his desire to continue with his current employer for the “long term”.
That €40m claim started in France earlier this year, and was quickly rubbished. This suggests Le Parisien have a round-up of players who could leave their clubs, and it’s fair to say Sanson is a possibility given how often it’s been covered by Marseille’s local media.
Whilst Wolves interest may well be genuine, it’s unlikely they’d have to reach such a figure to sign the player.
