Buying a Premier League club isn’t a simple process, with many negotiations and checks needed before the green light is given for the business to change hands, and Newcastle United’s takeover is no different.
PCP Capital Partners are those attempting to purchase the club off Mike Ashley, and while it’s not done yet, everything still seems to be heading in the right direction.
That’s what Manu Lonjon, who has been covering the situation from France for Eurosport, is reporting on Monday, explaining there have been some ‘positive developments in the past few hours’.
Furthermore, he adds ‘optimism is still alive and well’ regarding the ‘confirmation’ of the club’s sale, with the ‘arrival of new funds’ seen as a ‘breath of fresh air’ during the Covid-19 pandemic.
That means, according to his source, Newcastle United fans shouldn’t be too worried about this falling apart, even if it’s never done until it’s actually done.
The prospective takeover from PCP Capital Partners has led to some rather wild transfer stories, with players such as Dries Mertens, Edinson Cavani and even Philippe Coutinho all being linked with a move to St James’ Park.
