Nottingham Forest overcame competition from Brest in signing Chema Rodriguez after they offered better economic conditions, both to the midfielder and Levante.
It looks like the Championship side and newly promoted Ligue 1 club have also been involved in another transfer battle.
Two days ago, Le10 Sport reported that Sabri Lamouchi’s side wanted to sign Bordeaux’s Alexandre Mendy on a permanent transfer to bolster their attack. It was also stressed the two clubs were ‘in negotiations’ for the forward.
Brest, on the other hand, were looking to sign the 25-year-old on a loan deal.
Le10 Sport now brings the latest update and it doesn’t come as good news.
It’s claimed that Bordeaux turned down a loan approach from Brest and there will be no deal with the English side for Mendy.
However, Mendy’s track leading to Brest is still open because the latter are thinking about negotiating a permanent transfer with Bordeaux.
