Earlier on Monday, we covered an interview from Rennes president Olivier Létang in Le Parisien who stated the Ligue 1 side had presented Wahbi Khazri with an offer to sign permanently for next season.
The Sunderland forward spent the 2017-18 campaign on loan in the north of France, where he enjoyed himself, and, as we stated in the earlier article, attracted a fair bit of interest from notable French teams.
Marseille and Lyon are two of the recurring names, but another has apparently joined the pack for the Black Cats loanee: OGC Nice.
According to Le10 Sport, Mario Balotelli’s team ‘recently contacted’ the Tunisia international to see if he’d be interested in swapping the Stadium of Light for the Allianz Riviera, with ‘first negotiations’ now taking place.
Khazri is said to be considering the option, but if Marseille and Lyon also come forward, their ability to offer European football would surely trump Nice’s attempts.
We’ll have to wait and see.
