Atlético Madrid will host Manchester United in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 tie at the Wanda Metropolitano on Wednesday.
The La Liga winners enter this tie after suffering four defeats in their last seven matches in all competitions. They managed a 3-0 win over Osasuna in the league away from home on Saturday and a day later, trained for the upcoming clash against the Red Devils.
AS on Monday explain that Diego Simeone has ‘more problems’ to prepare his side to face the Manchester club later this week.
Yannick Carrasco received marching orders in the final group stage clash against FC Porto and will miss both the fixtures against United.
Thomas Lemar was expected to start in the Belgian’s absence, but he ‘did not train yesterday’. The newspaper adds he is doubtful to face the English club.
Along with Lemar, Benjamin Lecomte, Daniel Wass and Matheus Cunha were also absent from Sunday’s training session. The latter two suffered injuries in recent weeks and are ruled out for the Champions League clash.
Antoine Griezmann has not featured for Atlético since mid-December and only returned to the bench against Osasuna two days ago.
He didn’t have any minutes in the last league tie and AS add the former Real Sociedad star was seen training yesterday.
