Russian sport website Maxim Online has interviewed Krasnodar forward Fedor Smolov about a potential transfer after the World Cup.
Smolov was heavily linked with a move to Premier League during there last transfer window after West Ham United were reported as a potential destination.
Asked about a move in the summer Smolov said: “I received offers in the last window, but it was a loan and right of redemption. Champions League clubs aren’t eager to take us. They don’t want to repeat same mistakes like Zhirkov, Arshavin or Bilyaletdinov.”
During the last transfer window West Ham were reportedly in talks with Smolov, with claims the Russian was keen on a move to London, but he suggested otherwise at the time.
West Ham wanted to loan the 28 year old, with a right of redemption of £12m.
It was well documented West Ham wanted to sign a forward during the last transfer window, after the departures of Diafra Sakho and Andre Ayew, but nobody was brought in.
It’s likely the Hammers will be looking to bolster their attacking options in the next window, and Smolov could still be an option.
