Dundee forward Greg Stewart has revealed he’s flattered by the interest from Leeds United. The 26-year-old has been linked with a move to Leeds United in recent weeks after he rejected a contract extension with Dundee.
Speaking to the Dundee Evening Telegraph, Stewart was asked about his future with the SPL Club after being linked with the likes of Leeds United and Rangers.
The forward said he can’t believe such clubs are interested in him given his situation a few years when he wasn’t playing in the top flight.
Stewart went on to say he wants to play for a club which can bring the best out of him, but couldn’t assure fans that club would be Dundee.
“Sometimes I think ‘wow’ — three years ago I was working at Grangemouth and now top teams like Leeds United and Rangers are interested in me. Put it this way, I don’t want to go back to the oil refinery any time soon. I have to pinch myself sometimes when I think about it. I want to be somewhere I can play my best football. Whether it is at Dundee we will just have to wait and see,” said the Dundee star.
Stewart has just 12 months left on his contract with Dundee, but the club don’t want to sell him on the cheap this summer.
Leeds United and other interested clubs have been told the player is available for £1.5m, and they are prepared to lose him on a free next summer if nobody is prepared to meet their valuation.
